Welcome! I'm Andrew.

I’m a Seattle-based UX Designer with over 7 years of experience creating web and mobile interfaces across industries such as service, aerospace, and education. My goal is to design experiences that seamlessly combine practicality and elegance, creating small moments of delight in our day-to-day interactions.

The User

UX Designers are taught to emphasize and advocate for their users first. This means understanding and addressing the needs, goals, and frustrations of the target audience and relevant stakeholders.

• Research
• Personas
• Psychology
• Empathy Mapping

The Problem

Understanding the problem or the "why" behind a feature is how we ensure that the solutions we provide are purpose-driven, effective, and aligned with both user and business needs.

• Usability testing
• Task analysis
• Pain points
• Design workshops
• Heuristic evaluations

The Business

Product design is a tool used to achieve business objectives. The success of a design solution can be measured by defining key metrics and data points that circle back to business goals.

• Data analysis
• Identifying metrics
• Company research
• Industry knowledge
• Branding

Here's a little taste of what my design process looks like.

Design processes are rarely one-size-fits-all—they differ across companies, teams, and even individual features. This is a general process that I use as my baseline.
1. Discovery

The discovery phase is where we uncover the “why” behind the project, diving deep into user research, stakeholder goals, and market analysis to define the problem space. By aligning user pain points with business objectives, we create a solid foundation for purposeful, data-driven design decisions, ensuring we solve the right problem effectively.

2. Design & Test

In this phase, we transform insights into wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs, continuously refining them through user testing and feedback. By balancing creativity with functionality and validating assumptions early, we ensure the designs are visually compelling, intuitive, and grounded in user needs.

3. Handoff + Build

The handoff phase bridges design and development, ensuring a smooth transition from concept to execution. Through detailed documentation, interactive specs, and close collaboration with developers, I ensure the final product reflects the intended experience while maintaining design integrity.

4. Measure Success

Once the product is live, measuring success involves tracking KPIs, analyzing user behavior, and iterating based on real-world feedback. This ensures the product not only meets its objectives but also evolves to deliver sustained value to users and the business.
